Our Initiatives
"As a service organization, Circle K International allows us to carry out community service projects that change lives, including ourselves. Initiatives allow us to center our time and efforts in tackling causes together. These initiatives grant direct focus on specific causes as we place our outermost efforts in making an impact and to demonstrate our dedication towards our communities. We focus on different initiatives each year including one District Service Initiative (DSI) and as much as four District Fundraising Initiatives (DFIs)."

District Fundraising Initiative 2022-2023
Our DFIs, District Fundraising Initiative, are long-term organizations that our district support through fundraising. Portions of our fundraising efforts will be donating towards the following organizations.
Brick x Brick (UNICEF) project is a partnership that Circle K International has with UNICEF USA, in which bricks made out of recycled plastic are used to build classrooms within the African nation of Côte d’Ivoire. This project contributes to multiple causes, such as creating a cleaner planet, alleviating poverty for families and empowering women, and building safe spaces for children to learn and play.
To Write Love On Her Arms is our rotating DFI for the 2023-24 term. This non-profit is focused on assisting those individuals struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide receive the resources and hope that will allow them to get treatment and recover.
The Kiwanis Family House strives to provide housing and support to families of seriously ill or injured children and adults being treated at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. The funds raised will go towards providing additional resources and improve the satay for these families so they they can be there to support.
The Pediatric Trauma Program aims to develop local projects which will reduce the number of children who are killed or injured by trauma. These projects include promoting community outreach, providing education materials, and assisting partner hospitals. The funds raised will go towards the end goal of preventing unintentional injury and death as well as providing safety items for children.
We are dedicated to reaching our fundraising goals for each of these organizations by the end of the term.

District Service Initiative 2022-2023
“The DSI, or District Service Initiative, is an annual service theme that a district focuses on for the term. This means that all CKI clubs throughout CNH (California-Nevada-Hawaii), including CSULB, are encouraged to tailor a good portion of their service events and projects towards that theme.
CNH Circle K’s DSI for the 2023-24 term is Food Insecurity. This means that this year’s DSI will focus on decreasing food insecurities within our community.
CSULB CKI is committed to helping our local communities by supporting the availability and trading of food to reduce poverty and hunger. We do this through volunteering at food pantries such as Meals on Wheels and Lydia House or helping them obtain basic necessities through service events with American Family Housing.
There are many opportunities to support children both locally and nationally in CKI through volunteering and fundraising.”
