Int'l Student Announcement
On July 6th, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that international students in the U.S. would need to leave the country or transfer if they are not taking at least one in-person class this upcoming academic year.
There is less than two months before the Fall 2020 semester begins, and with the Covid-19 pandemic getting worse, the opening of in-person classes is unsafe and unnecessary. Many int’l students do not have the choice of returning to their home country or transferring to another institution. These arbitrary changes seriously impact international students’ education, safety, and more. They are being forced to abandon their studies or face severe consequences.
According to President Jane Close Conoley, the CSULB administration is working with the chancellor’s office on a strategy to prioritize international students and will have a plan in a few days. However this decision affects ALL universities, so I urge everyone to sign petitions and share resources as much as possible!!
