what we Advocate for
"With everything going on right now whether it is COVID-19 or the injustices we’ve all been seeing, I just wanted to take a moment to address the current circumstances. It's really disheartening to see everything that is happening and the lives being hurt, and I want to give a reminder to everyone that we are here for you. Circle K International at CSULB will always be a community members can confide in. I ask that we all do our part in respecting one another and providing support for those around you. We do not stand for injustice.
We want to link some resources that can help, support, and educate yourself on what is going on at the moment. If you have any other resources that can help out, feel free to comment them down below!"

Black lives matter
Last year, our club held a Cartoon Yourself Fundraiser, where 100% of the proceeds raised went to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund!
"The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.” For more information on NAACP Legal Defense Fund: Click Here |

Being educated on the issues of racial injustice, prejudice, human rights, and much more related to George Floyd is imperative to helping moving human rights in the positive direction. Linked below are several different resources to research and sift through:

SA/Sh Allegations
"Many of you may have heard about the recent sexual assault allegations surfacing throughout the Circle K International community. While we have not been informed of any cases within our home club, I want to make sure we address the importance of the matter.
'Most sexual assaults and rape are committed by someone the victim knows. A study of sexual victimization of college women showed that about 90% of victims knew the person who sexually victimized them. Most often, a boyfriend, ex-boyfriend, classmate, friend, acquaintance or co-worker sexually victimized the person. It is important to remember that Sexual Misconduct can occur in both heterosexual and same-gender relationships.' - CSULB, Office of Equity & Diversity
We all play a role in preventing sexual violence and establishing norms of respect, safety, equality, and helping others. It’s crucial that we work on implementing preventative measures to deter future incidents, and call for consequences for those who’ve committed acts of sexual assault in an effort to truly support victims."

What should I do?
If you’re experiencing any immediate form of threat or harm, call 9-1-1. Upon any kind of sexual violence you are encouraged to seek immediate assistance for your physical safety, emotional support and medical care.
If an act of sexual assault has already taken place, it’s highly advised to call a hotline (see resources below). While it’s encouraged to report your trauma, you have the ultimate decision. If you are a victim/survivor, know that you are never at fault. Please know that your feelings are valid and we are here to listen. The well-being of our members is our top priority, and we hope to continue to provide a safe and inclusive space for everyone.
